It seems I can make no friends this election cycle. I agree with virtually everything that comes from the #NeverTrump movement. While many of them were never on the side of conservatives, I do agree with their criticisms of Trump. On the flip side, many of them are really solid conservatives that I admire. We all agree Donald Trump is a God awful candidate for the Republican Party. He shares no values with me whatsoever, taking no time to promote liberty or the Constitution. He is incapable of running a competent campaign and seems more interested in taking on Republicans than Democrats. Should he win, he may completely betray everything he promised that sounded at least somewhat favorable to conservatives. He may abuse the office for his own personal gain, conflating the role of commander in chief with his personal brand and private businesses. The results of such a presidency could be catastrophic.
With that said, mostly all of this also applies to Hillary Clinton, and there is more that is much worse. We’ve known her for years and the bottom line is Hillary is a Marxist activist. She will actively do everything in her power to continue where Barack Obama left off in undermining the liberty and values this country once represented. Hillary will attack the Bill of Rights head on. She has already achieved a level of success despite obvious violations of our laws that should never have been allowed. She is setting new standards for corruption using the Clinton Foundation to sell America to the world for her own personal wealth and power. The possibilities for this are endless and the results of her presidency will definitely be catastrophic.
My feeling is that Hillary represents similar threats to Donald Trump (ie, corruption, immorality, disregard to liberty, no serious solutions to actual threats) but with more support, more funding, and more momentum than Donald Trump has, and it’s not even close. I think she would walk into office and start implementing her agenda on day 1 with little to no opposition. If you need proof, see the last eight years of Obama. I think America’s days as a free country are limited on our current path, and Hillary is pulling us in that direction as hard as possible. Donald Trump may be a crap sandwich, and he’ll probably be an awful president, but he’s not a Marxist activist. He will be opposed by the media, the Congress, and the courts, none of which are on the side of Trump or conservatives. What I see in Trump is a possible four years of gridlock. In the meantime, we as conservatives continue building the grassroots and finding new ways to market our ideas to a generation drunk on progressivism. This is a war we can’t afford to lose, not even on principle. It’s because of our principles that we hold on as long as possible. For the sake of my family, and despite not liking or supporting him, I’m voting for Trump.
