A lot of people are calling themselves ‘feminists’ these days. I often find myself wondering how many of those people came to that conclusion based on some process of reason and critical thinking, and I mean beyond seeing a few infographics and televised PSA’s warning them not to attend college because there is a 20% chance they’ll be violently raped.
I think the simplest answer is that most self-described feminists choose to wave the flag because it’s trendy. “It means treating men and women the same”, they’d say. But just the term in and of itself is contradictory to the mission statement because it immediately differentiates women from men. You’ll never hear a feminist first say they’re for ‘equal’ rights. They always say they’re for women’s rights. The obvious implication is that women’s rights and men’s rights are two totally different things. In the 1960’s, men and women of all colors marched for ‘civil rights’, not ‘blacks rights’. They forced segregated America to confront the fact that civil rights applied to everyone equally, and to address their own guilt. They won, and rightfully so. Thank God for the Republicans who passed the legislation to back them up.
Feminists, on the other hand, have no such intentions. They may seduce many of their supporters into believing they’re for equal rights, but the fruits of their labor yield no such results, and they rarely pretend to try.
The truth is that feminism in its current form offers nothing positive or desirable to society as a whole or to any women as an individual. It’s generally loaded with toxic propaganda and lies, such as the debunked college rape statistics, or the very debunked gender wage gap, and a whole host of other bogus claims and statistics that have been spun and marketed for political reasons. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Feminists don’t care to address the fact that more women than men are graduating from colleges, or that women dominate many significant and important fields. Feminism is apparently blind as a bat to the overall culture in America that is screaming at the top of its lungs ‘Please, ladies, please come work for me! Please come to our school! Please, please! We’re tolerant!”
Any woman in America willing to work hard could write her own ticket to success and prosperity under these conditions. But instead, feminism tells women they’re victims from the moment they’re born, suffering from disadvantage in school and the workforce. They’re injected resentment and hate, and nothing good has come of it.
Even when the intentions of feminism could be construed as pure, their credibility is lost when they allow their ‘movement’ to be hijacked by complete psychopaths like Ashley Judd and all of the random naked people running around Europe, to name a few. Leaders of the feminist movement are silent on the subject and condition of women’s rights in Islamic countries, whom we’re supposed to be tolerant of and coexist. Well I’m not. I think America is vastly superior in every way to any Islamic country, especially in terms of human rights.
Feminists are wildly political, which is the underlying purpose of the movement whether they know it or not. They supported Hillary Clinton in the last election because of her particular genitals, something she’s born with and represents no symbol of merit. Talk about supporting privilege. Oh, and how can we leave out the little detail that the very same woman stood by her man Bill for decades through all of the adultery and rape accusations? No, no, feminism can’t be weighed down with such trivial and minor details. Hillary For President is the only way to achieve equality. That’s why America no longer has any racial strife after the Barrack Obama presidency.
For the record, I think it’s admirable that there are those who wish to see more women involved in certain areas of industry or whatever else you think society need an adjustment on, but your advocacy should end the very second you find yourself advocating against an individual choosing otherwise in order to maintain your own objective. How many women are chastised and made to feel inadequate in feminist circles for electing to stay home to raise their children? They’re sellouts! Feminism requires you to see the stay at home mom as a subject of a systemic patriarchy, regardless of the mother’s opinion. She’s obviously been brainwashed. The lack of respect for the individual is enough to drive anyone away.
Women aren’t allowed to be Republican and feminists at the same time, or pro-life and feminist at the same time. Feminism has a strict, political purity test that has everything to do with an ideological agenda and nothing to do with espousing equality for women. Only a certain sort of women is welcome, it turns out.
There are also fantastic supporters of old school feminism (we’re talking suffrage here) who are frantically ringing the bell against the modern feminist movement. Maybe you’ve heard of Christina Hoff Sommers, the ‘factual feminist’. Any self-respecting cause should be able to have a sit down with Christina and address their differences in the name of ‘progress’, but instead feminists can only ridicule and attempt to undermine the credibility of her and those like her. Oh, and she hates women. We can never forget to leave that part out.
To be a feminist, you have to believe that about half of this country hates women, which is as ridiculous as believing that 1 in 5 women are raped at college. I hate women, according to most feminist standards. Ladies, if I may call you that, I married a real woman. I was born to a real woman.
You don’t measure up to their standards, but good looking out I guess.
